Yoga for Actors

Yoga for Actors

Instructor: Kendra Raymond

Six Week Session: Tuesdays, April 24 – May 29, 2012

Price: $90

Vinyasa Yoga is taught in a flowing (vinyasa) style, moving from one pose to the next while linking breath to movement. All levels are welcome as the class focuses on form and key actions in the body.  The deep connection to breath helps to draw the student’s attention inward and allows for deepening in each pose.  The pace also permits for longer holds of the poses which aides in the muscle memory.  Yoga will help fine-tune your body and mind in ways that traditional exercises cannot.  Students will find that yoga provides them with improved focus, greater body awareness, increased lean muscle mass and balance of strength and flexibility.  All of these things will come together and improve an actor’s ability to present their best appearance and delivery in auditions and on the job.

Kendra L. Raymond, RYT

As a former advertising executive and mother of 2 young children, Kendra fully understands the importance of finding time to balance the mind, body and spirit. Yoga allows Kendra to renew and strengthen her body and mind so that she can approach life with energy and passion.

She discovered the benefits of a regular yoga practice in 1999 and has practiced in various styles and settings throughout her years of being a student. In 2009 Kendra took her practice to the next level by entering YogaSpirit Studios’ teacher training program. This comprehensive 14 month certification process, with foundations in B.K.S Iyengar’s style, included an in depth study of the anatomy of poses, various alternatives and modifications for different body types and a deep appreciation for the healing aspects of yoga. It is with this training that she approaches her instruction.  Kendra hopes to bring each of her students the strength and peace she has found in yoga.
