ADVANCED Teens Acting for the Camera: On-Camera Commercials and Film

(Ages 12-17)

This class is a continuation of the first where the student will build and expand on the knowledge learned, with the focus on individual growth through the process of performance and critique among their peers. There is more individualized attention given to each student in the class, with material specifically selected for each student’s “type”. The goal of this class is to discover and encourage each actor’s “professional self” establishing the confidence and know-how to handle the audition and, of course, the job with finesse.

Prerequisite: Teens Acting for the Camera Class  or by staff review.

Kate Kelly, a member of the Screen Actors Guild and Actors Equity Association, has been a professional actor and teacher for over fifteen years. She holds an M.A. in Theatre Education from Emerson College and has worked as an actor all over New England. Kate has performed at theaters including The American Repertory Theatre, The Publick Theater of Boston, Worcester Foothills Theater Company, Raven Theatricals, and The New Playhouse at Hampton. She has also appeared in commercials and videos for clients including Dunkin’ Donuts, Ann Taylor, Barnes & Noble, Sheraton Hotels, and PBS. Kate is the former director of member services for StageSource in Boston, and is currently a faculty member at Boston Casting’s Media Performance Institute, an associate professor in Theatre at Curry College and a drama specialist for the Waltham Public Schools. With Boston Casting, she has assisted in casting various projects, from the ballerinas in 2007′s THE GAME PLAN to last season’s contestants on DEAL OR NO DEAL.
